Training in Fire Photography: Capturing the Magic of Fire
What is Fire Photography?
Fire photography is a unique and captivating discipline that involves capturing artists performing with Fire in all its forms: fire breathers, jugglers, dancers, and more. This practice, still relatively unknown, is attracting more and more amateur and professional photographers seeking a technical and artistic challenge. Photographing Fire requires a perfect mastery of exposure, light, and timing to capture the magic of these fleeting and intense moments.
But why should you be interested? Because Fire photography is much more than a technical exercise. It’s an immersion into a warm and creative universe where every shot tells a story—one of a vibrant community of passionate artists. It is also a highly rewarding discipline: successfully capturing a dancing flame or a dazzling spark shower is a source of wonder, both for the photographer and for those admiring the images.
Who Are the Organizers?
Behind the rise of this discipline are two key pillars of the Burn Crew Concept (BCC) community: Yann Delcambre and Andrey Das.
-
Yann Delcambre, a talented and passionate photographer, is known for his ability to capture the essence of fiery performances. Through his lens, he transforms flames into mesmerizing art and magnifies the performers who manipulate them.
-
Andrey Das, an iconic figure in the Fire arts and founder of BCC, is the driving force behind many of the community’s gatherings. A seasoned Fire breather and organizer, he works tirelessly to make this discipline accessible through inclusive and engaging events.
These two enthusiasts collaborate closely to make Fire photography accessible to everyone, from curious beginners to experienced photographers seeking to perfect their skills.
About the Workshop
Fire photography requires specific skills, which Yann and Andrey are committed to teaching. During the recent "Día de los Muertos" event, an introductory workshop was held to familiarize participants with this demanding art form. It was an exceptional opportunity to learn the basics, exchange ideas with fellow enthusiasts, and practice in real conditions.
Workshop Objectives:
- Understand the technical specifics of Fire photography (exposure, shutter speed, ISO).
- Learn to anticipate and capture the movement of flames.
- Master framing and compose striking images.
- Discover the importance of collaborating with performers to enhance their performances.
This first experience demonstrated that Fire photography can be accessible to all, provided they are guided by experts. Yann and Andrey continue their mission of democratizing this art by offering regular workshops and training sessions within BCC activities.
